- Summary:
- British novelist Rosamond Lehmann (1901-1990) became notorious with the publication of her first book, Dusty Answer, in 1927, which described intimate romantic experiences with an emotional honesty unheard of in the writing of that time period. This study looks at her six major novels in the context of the sociopolitical and literary upheavals of the inter-war era, drawing on Lehmann's private papers and letters. Simons (English, De Montfort U.) aims to restore Lehmann to her position as a key figure in British intellectual and literary circles in the mid-20th century.
