- Summary:
- This is the 19th edition of a long-enduring text (original publication was in 1936!). It's physically quite heavy and requires a sturdy table; fortunately, purchase of the print edition includes online access to the contents. New editions have appeared every three or four years (most recently, in 2008) to keep the material current. Seventy-three contributed chapters cover basic principles, perioperative management, transplantation and immunology, surgical oncology, head and neck, breast, endocrine system, the esophagus, abdomen chest, and vascular system, as well as specialties and special populations. The four editors are affiliated as follows: Courtney M. Townsend (U. of Texas Medical Branch); R. Daniel Beauchamp (Vanderbilt U.); B. Mark Evers (The U. of Kentucky); and Kenneth L. Mattox (Baylor College of Medicine). Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
