Summary:
Copy of a 14th-century historical and geographical work whose title translated into English is Heart's bliss. An introduction on the author's sources (f. 3r-4v), heavenly bodies, longitude, and latitude is followed by chapters on the division of creation into minerals, plants, and animals; on man; on towns, kingdoms, and valleys in Iran; and on the wonders of the world. Frequent contemporary or near-contemporary marginal notes relate the content of the text to the reader's knowledge of the Deccan region of India.

Foliation: Paper, i (modern paper) + 251 + 1 (modern replacement leaf); [1-252], modern foliation in pencil, upper left recto. Catchwords on each leaf, lower left verso.
Layout: Written in 21 long lines; text block framed in ink.
Script: Written in nastaʻlīq script.
Decoration: Diagrams (f. 40r, 180v) and tables in red ink; map (178v-179r) of the eastern Mediterranean and Arabian Peninsula with numerous cities marked, including Jerusalem, Mecca, Medina, Damascus, Aleppo, Mosul, Najaf, Jiddah, Aden, Ṣanʻāʼ, Samarqand, Bukhoro, and Agra; illuminated headpiece (f. 1v) and faded gold floral borders (f. 1v-2r); text block framed with narrow borders of red, green, and blue ink throughout; headings and significant words in red, blue, or green.
Binding: Morocco, gilt-stamped medallion on upper cover; replacement lower cover.
Origin: Written in India in the Deccan, in the late 16th or early 17th century.
