Summary:
Rödl (philosophy, U. of Basel) traces the influence of Frege's Begriffschrift on philosophy and resulting combination of the empirical concept of sensibility with the inferentialist understanding of thought. The author draws from Aristotle, Wittgenstein and Kant to show how the understanding of logic, sensibility, time and thought cannot be understood independently but are all aspects of a single reality and must be considered together to form a complete understanding. Translated from the original German, the text is organized into two sections; the first examines transcendental logic and time, the second focuses on forms of temporal thought.
