In addition to shedding light on ethnic interactions, warfare, and social and political institutions in Yoruba communities, the author also offers a general examination of the processes of frontier history in a cultural context. The book is illustrated with a total of 57 b&w photos, illustrations, and maps. Its readership includes scholars and students interested in the dynamics of change in small-scale societies of Africa.
