- Summary:
- Authors Boylan (economics, National U. of Ireland) and O'Gorman (philosophy, National U. of Ireland) address the economic methodology of Frank Hahn, a British economist. Hahn, famous for his criticism of the topic (he considered it essentially fruitless), nevertheless also developed a prescriptive approach to theorizing about the role and status of economic theorizing and economic theory. In what they say is the first book length study of Hahn's views and thinking on methodology, the authors explore two primary questions: what is distinctive about economic theorizing?; and what is the cognitive value of its results? The authors also discuss other elements of Hahn's work. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
