Husband Kevin Rockett (film studies, Trinity College, Dublin) and wife Emer (a lecturer and scholar of visual culture) have collaborated on previous projects pertaining to the history of film in Ireland. Emerging from an interest they developed in the technologies that preceded film, this study offers thorough exploration of themes involving science, entertainment, and economic and commercial aspects of Irish cultural history.
