Summary:
In "The Vagabond", Renee, the heroine becomes a music hall performer to take refuge from her former marriage. A young man falls in love with her, but she refuses him. In her struggle to discover her real feelings, Renee learns a whole new concept of herself in relation to men who love her.
"My mother's house" is an actual recollection of Colette's childhood. It is the girl in "The vagabond" as a child.
