An anonymous unfavorable review of the work, addressed to Jean Baptiste Joseph Delambre, secrétaire perpétuel [pour les sciences mathematiques], accompanies De Buat's manuscript.

- Script: Written in cursive script in the hand of Pierre du Buat, with accompanying notes in another hand.
- Decoration: Plate of 3 figures in ink (diagrams of the thermometer) mounted inside lower cover.
