Summary:
Jaco wrote what has become the classic introductory textbook on three-manifold topology, and has made many advanced discoveries in the field as well. Among the presentations at Jacofest were discussions of ideal triangulations on pseudo-Anosov mapping tori, introduction to the theory of Haken n-manifolds, gradings in Khovanov homology and sutured Floery homology, hyperbolic knots in irreducible Heegaard surfaces, and turn graphs and extremal surfaces in free groups. A final chapter lists mathematical problems that rose at the conference. The proceedings are not indexed. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
