Summary:
Strong emotions and strong political beliefs surrounding the Civil War in Spain led Italians to volunteer for the fascist side and others from Europe and the Americas to volunteer for the communist International Brigade, and later for Spaniards to enlist as part of the German army on the eastern front. In a series of interviews, many of these volunteers recall their experiences, and their awakening to the horrors they underwent in the terrible cataclysm of the Spanish Civil War and the World War that followed.
