- Summary:
- Over the past two decades, developing countries have made great strides as exporters of services. While policy makers in those countries have concentrated on tangible trade and its benefits, little research has focused on how the dynamic growth can be sustained and how it can be reproduced in other countries. In this World Bank publication, the authors combine exploratory econometric models and case studies of representative countries to find which policy mixes worked and which strategies failed to deliver the anticipated results. They review those issues in Brazil, Chile, Egypt, India, Kenya, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Editors Goswami (consultant, International Trade Department, World Bank), Mattoo (research manager, Trade and International Integration, World Bank), Saez (trade economist, International Trade Department, World Bank), and 12 co-authors contributed to the book.
