- Summary:
- In this volume, Day presents the results of her study and cataloging of the large collection of pottery excavated between 1937-39 by the British School at Athens, under John Pendlebury but only partially published (in 1960). The catalog documents the material in drawings and photos, with descriptive entries for each example. Descriptions of the rooms in which the pottery was discovered are included in the course of the catalog, with the chapters organized by find site. Day provides a chapter of conclusions concerning the pottery's use, and the phasing, dates, and possible uses of the site. A chapter of petrographic analysis of the post-palatial pottery, by Eleni Nodarou and Ioannis Iliopoulos, with color photos of the examples, concludes the work. The volume is oversized: 8.5x12" and distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
