Summary:
Head of the libraries at Long Island University, Goodman explains qualitative research approaches and describes how they might be applied in library settings to address problems specific to library information faced by librarians and users. She suggests some of the ways that user-focused qualitative research, combined with other approaches, might help those who work in libraries find out more about their users, and perhaps generate questions they did not know were out there. Among her topics are ethnographic research practices in library settings, qualitative approaches to understanding user experience in library settings, and using qualitative methods to explore the library as workplace.
