- Summary:
- Stephenson (systematic theology, Lee U., Tennessee) analyzes the historical and theological factors that have resulted in the present situation among American Pentecostal women, and proposes an argument that addresses both the anthropological and ecclesiological aspects of the issue in a manner that takes up pneumatology as the methodological starting point. Pentecostals and feminists need to stop talking about each other and start talking to each other, she declares, and thinks this book may be the first example. She examines American Pentecostal women in ministry, Pentecostal interpretations of Lukan pneumatology, a feminist-pneumatological anthropology, contributions of Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza and Rosemary Radford to feminist ecclesiologies, and a feminist-pneumatological ecclesiology. The study began as her 2009 dissertation for a PhD in religious studies at Marquette University. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
