Summary:

The work presents about 40 detailed cases, describing common and less common conditions and ailments found in clinical practice. Each case describes patient presentation, gives notes on examination, and offers brief background on etiology, management, and diagnostic tests of the various diagnoses of the case. Each case closes with critical thinking questions on final diagnosis and treatment plan, with detailed answers. Cases include references; some have b&w photos. Cases in the first section provide an overview of issues that impact the geriatric population, such as ageism, cultural competence, and lack of health insurance. The rest of the book is divided into sections on common health challenges of aging, health promotion, environments of care (including homelessness), cognitive and psychological issues in aging, and issues of aging and independence, such as driving and sexuality.
