Summary:
Based on papers delivered at a 2009 symposium in Boulder, Colorado, the 7 chapters of this volume contribute thoughtful and diverse approaches to reading, including postmodern reading, of the fathers of the Church. Four of the papers are on Gregory of Nyssa, others engage with Dionysius the Areopagite, Origen, and Augustine. The volume concludes with an extended conversation about reading among the presenters and a full bibliography. Douglass is part of the Herbst Program of Humanisties for Engineers at U. of Colorado, Boulder: Ludlow teaches patristics at the U. of Exeter, the UK.
