- Summary:
- Paraguay, Autumn 1935. It's unendingly hot. In a remote place, an old peasant couple, Cándida and Ramón, wait for their son, who has gone to fight in the Chaco war. They wait for the rain, seemingly arriving but not for a long time, for the missing wind, hoping the relentless heat will give up oppressing them. Above all, they hope for better things. The couple faces this situation with different attitudes: Ramón optimistic; Cándida believing her son is dead, yet continuing to hope. These roles insert themselves between the seated couple, while they pass the time in a Paraguayan hammock.
