- Summary:
- This interesting history of Japanese colonialism in Korea examines the lives of early settlers and entrepreneurs during the period of Japanese rule at the beginning of the twentieth century. Drawing on documents from both Korean and Japanese archives, the work explores the lives of the colonial settlers in relation to their personal lives and fortunes, their Korean neighbors, and the official social and economic edicts and controls of the Japanese imperial authorities. The work includes maps and several black and white photographs and provides historians and general readers with a unique glimpse of this often overlooked period in the history of the region.
