- Summary:
- Mosher (Rutgers), Sageev (Technion), and Whyte (U. of Illinois-Chicago) obtain a classification of finitely generated groups up to quasi-isometry, specifically groups which split as graphs of groups, reducing the classification of the whole group to classification of the vertex and edge groups and the pattern in which those groups are pieced together. The monograph proves rigidity for the depth zero rafts and vertex rigidity within the rafts, explores the coarse lattice of vertex and edge spaces, and concludes that quasi-isometries on the Bass-Serre complex descend to quasi-isometries on the Bass-Serre tree.
