- Summary:
- The National Museum Wales formed the Palaeolithic Settlement of Wales research project in 1978, and, under the direction of Stephen Aldhouse-Green, excavation at Pontnewydd Cave, Denbighshire was initiated. An interim account of the work was published in 1984. This new volume--a long time in coming due to the editor's illness and other reasons--adds material and brings the presentation up to date. Contributions discuss the history of the caves and the geomorphology and geology of the area, the sedimentary sequence, the excavations, fauna, human remains, and dating, among other topics. The volume is slightly oversize (8.5x12") and sturdily produced on coated stock. It is distributed in North America by The David Brown Book Co.
