- Summary:
- This photo illustrated encyclopedia for veterinary undergraduate students in their clinical years covers diagnosis, treatment, and control of diseases of cattle, with an emphasis on UK practices. Color photos on every page demonstrate conditions and treatment techniques, and sequential photos demonstrate different stages of disease processes. Coverage encompasses the male and female reproductive systems, causes of fetal loss, obstetrics and parturient diseases, and diseases of the digestive tract and abdomen; these chapters are followed by chapters on diseases of various body systems. Body system chapters open by outlining an approach to clinical examination of the body system, rather than just listing disorders and diseases. The book also covers parasitic, clostridial, and metabolic diseases; trace element and vitamin deficiencies; poisons; and anesthesia. A list of abbreviations is included. Scott is a reader in the Royal (Dick) School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh, UK. The book is distributed in the US by Thieme Medical Publishers.
