The intent of this textbook is to examine all aspects of ethnobiology, the study of relationships between specific ethnic groups and their native plants and animals. Recent research in the field has uncovered new medicines and crops as well as greater understanding of human learning and language. Topics include ethics and issues facing researchers, international law and policy, history, and ethnobiology subfields such as ethnozoology, ethnobotany, and ethnomycology. The text is clearly and concisely written and supported by numerous photographs and illustrations. Editors Anderson (anthropology, U. of California, Riverside), Pearsall (anthropology, U. of Missouri, Columbia), Hunn (anthropology, U. of Washington), Turner (anthropology, environmental studies, U. of Victoria, Canada), and 37 co-authors contributed to the book.
