- Summary:
- This collection of writings, edited by Ruru (law, U. of Otago) and Stephenson (Centre for the Study of Agriculture, Food and Environment, U. of Otago), draws from a broad array of voices exploring land use and the conflicts it creates in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Aotearoa is a region of New Zealand consisting of a series of remote islands. While the islands have been famous for their beauty and contribute economically via tourism, other interests have been pushing for agricultural usage. In addition, the aboriginal population has also laid claim to the land's use. These three conflicting interests and their interactions with each other are the focus of the essays. This book appeals to those studying agriculture and environmental sciences. Distributed in the US by ISBS. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
