Culture Class Collection copy has a thirty-two line Latin poem in manuscript addressed to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese at the end. Described in The Library Chronicle of the Friends of the University of Pennsylvania Library XXVI (1961), p. 84, as "a thirty-two line Latin poem in manuscript addressed to Cardinal Alessandro Farnese" by the "enigmatic" M. Spi., author of the printed text to which this ms. has been added. The poem is entitled "Sylva in reditum ad vrbem R[everendissi]mi ac Ill[ustrissi]mi Alexandr. Farnesij per M. Spi" and appears to honor (or at least to mention repeatedly) Pope Julius III (1487-1555; papacy 1550-1555), born Giovanni Maria Ciocchi del Monte. He succeeded Pope Paul III (1468-1549; papacy 1534-1549), also born Alessandro Farnese. The poem's dedicatee, Paul III's grandson Alessandro Cardinal Farnese, was a power broker in the conclave which elected Julius III as a compromise candidate.
