- Summary:
- This resource for clinicians describes common situations in the use of anticoagulation drugs in the prevention and treatment of conditions such as venous thromboembolism and stroke in hospital settings. Early chapters review the pharmacology of parenteral anticoagulants, the pharmacology of Vitamin K antagonists, anti-platelet medications, and newer oral anticoagulants. Later chapters give guidelines on how and when to use anticoagulation medications and explain how to balance their risks and benefits in different clinical situations. The book also outlines strategies for measuring and improving the quality of anticoagulant care in hospitals. The book is illustrated with b&w process diagrams and medical images. Fang is affiliated with the University of California-San Francisco. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
