Summary:

Environmental scientists, all European but for one American, present the most widely used models of ecosystems and models of ecological problems. The ecosystem models include those for estuaries, rivers and streams, forests, grassland, agriculture, and wastewater. Rarely modeled systems such as savannas, mountains, polar regions, and deep seas are not considered. Among the problem models are those for pollution by heavy metals, pharmaceuticals in the environment, global warming and the impacts of climate changes on ecosystems, fire spread using physics-inspired and chemistry-based mathematical analogs, and acidification.
