Summary:
Edward Hopper spent nine summers in Maine between 1914 and 1929 where he produced many beautiful paintings and watercolors of coast towns, lighthouses, boats, rocky shorelines, and beaches. This collection of essays and full-color images of more than 130 paintings, watercolors, drawings, and prints was published on the occasion of the Edward Hopper's Maine exhibit at the Bowdoin College Museum of Art in Brunswick. The essays discuss biographical details of Hopper's life during these years, themes seen in the works, his process and technique, and his critical reception.
