- Summary:
- The modernist photography of Lucien Herve, with its stark contrasts and attention to line and form, was the perfect foil for the modernist architecture of Le Corbusier. This beautifully produced, oversized (14.25x10.25") volume presents the contact sheets taken by Herve of 16 well-known works, including the Chapel of Notre-Dame-du-Haut in Ronchamp and the Parliament Building in Chandigarh, India, along with other photos, including portraits of both men. Detailed introductions to each building are provided by Le Corbusier specialist Sbriglio (Ecole nationale superieure d'architecture de Marseille-Luminy). Two introductory essays are also included, by the freelance curator Beatrice Andrieux, and by Quentin Bajac (Musee national d'art moderne, Centre Pompidou).
