Summary:
Nine papers from the Biblical law session at the Society of Biblical Literature's 2009 international meeting in Rome explore how law and tradition differentiated between certain groups of foreigners, and consider the rights of foreigners regarding their welfare and social and cultic participation and integration. Among the topics are foreigners under foreign rule in Kassite Babylonia during the second half of the second millennium BC, non-priestly and priestly legislation concerning strangers, resident aliens and natives in the holiness legislation, and Gentile Yhwh-worshipers and their participation in the cult of Israel.
