- Summary:
- Features the production and performance of a folk dance drama at the Kamla Bari Satra in Majoli, Assam, India. Ankiya naat are one-act plays interspersed with Sanskrit verses. They were composed for common people in simple language. A close link with Sanskrit theater can be seen. The conventional Purvaranga , the preliminaries comprising the "Nandi", the "Prastavana" ,etc. can be seen in this film. Also gives a historical background of the plays, with the credit of bringing the "Ankiya naat" concept into the fold of theatrical arts by Shankaradeva in the 16th century.
