Summary:
The second edition of this survey of women's rights in law and policy is fully updated to address and explore changes in the status of women in the eight years since its original publication. The work is written from the perspective of traditional liberal feminism in the United States and discusses issues of legal rights, protections against discrimination in the workplace and education, as well as public and private policy addressing the status of women. The volume deals with topics such as constitutional equality, gender bias in work and education, sexual harassment, family rights policy, and reproductive rights, and addresses not only the rights of women as related to men but also disparities within women's gains based on race and socioeconomic status. Mezey is a professor of political science at Loyola University, Chicago. Annotation ©2012 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
