This is an ethnographic investigation of the socio-economic factors, individual backgrounds, current circumstances, and situational factors that drive Chinese women to migrate and enter into the sex industry. Focusing her research on the city of Shenzhen, Liu (sociology and criminal justice, Delaware State U.) builds her analysis on field observation of commercial sex establishments and interviews with 40 prostituted women, as well as secondary data sources.
