- Summary:
- Archaeologists and other people involved with the project discuss the long history of human activity on the flood plains of the River Lugg that was revealed by the evaluation and salvage recording at the quarry. They cover dating, landscape, and environment; earlier prehistoric activity; later prehistoric and Romano-British activity; and medieval and post-medieval activity. The earliest humans seem to have been Mesolithic hunter-gatherers passing through seasonally during the middle fourth millennium BC, but pottery of Neolithic settlement soon follows.
