- Summary:
- The three editors are affiliated as follows: Joanne Brownlee and Donna Berthelsen (both: early childhood, Queensland University of Technology, Australia), and Gregory Schraw (educational psychology, U. of Nevada, US). They provide introductory and concluding chapters to frame 15 contributions pertaining to how teachers think about knowledge, where they get their ideas, and how those ideas impact their activities in the classroom in reference to student-centered vs. teacher-centered orientations. About half the articles deal with teacher education and half with classroom work, e.g. problem solving, teachers' personal epistemologies as predictors of support for students' autonomy, students with disabilities, reading lessons, and science teaching (in Taiwan), among other topics.
