- Summary:
- Cruz Quinal, the "mandolin king" lives near Cumana, Venezuela. He follows old Spanish traditions of guitar-making and makes instruments such as cuatros, marimba, escarpandola, mandolins and his own creation, a mandolin with two necks and sets of strings. The film depicts him making these instruments and playing the mandolin with other local musicians. In his reflections on his craft, he feels he is part of a decaying, neglected tradition.
