Summary:
Provides comparative behavioral information on three monkey and two ape species in their natural habitats. The video focuses on the roles that various individuals play in the life of the group, and provides information on foraging, locomotion, infant specialization, and male-female interactions in a comparative manner among the five species. The species are two cercopithecine types, the vervet (Cercopithecus aethiops) and the blue monkey (Cercopithecus mitis), one colobine, the black-and-white colobus (Colobus abyssinicus), and two apes, the common chimpanzee (Pan troglodytes) from Gombe, and the eastern lowland gorilla (Gorilla gorilla graueri) from Zaire.
