Summary:
Filmmaker Rehad Desai examines South Africa's struggle to democracy through the experiences of his own family. Rehad's father Barney was a freedom fighter before he and his family fled into exile in Britain. There Barney continued to be politically active. Rehad followed in his father's footsteps, and later became more independent from his father's ideas in struggles against inequity and racism. Having spent nearly 30 years in exile, Rehad went back to South Africa with his father to be involved in the country's transition to democracy. Through intimate and candid interviews with family members, the film looks at how each family member was affected by Barney Desai's fight against apartheid
