- Summary:
- This case study details the planning and collaboration involved in an international multi-institutional degree in chemical engineering between a Midwestern university and a Singaporean university. The study finds that national and local governments, culture, and social relationships all play determining roles in the negotiations and resulting form of collaboration between higher education institutions. After a review of theoretical interpretations of power and agency within the global higher education network, chapters describe the study's methods and research design and address barriers to global flows in higher education, such as differences in research and institutional culture, and problems in negotiating intellectual property. Witt is affiliated with the Illinois Board of Higher Education. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
