Summary:
The nine papers in this collection originally were presented during the workshop, Researching Violence and Conflict: Methodological and Ethical Considerations, held in July 2008 at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) at the University of London. The papers address a variety of topics, including methods and ethics in conflict, researching children and violence in evolving socio-political contexts, researching civil war in Sudan, gender and sexuality, and cooperative ethics as a new model for cultural research on peace and security. All entries are both readable and well-researched. Editors Cramer (political economy of development, SOAS), Hammond (development studies, SOAS), Pottier (African anthropology, SOAS), and 11 co-authors contributed to the book.
