Summary:
Women have a difficult life in the poor neighborhoods of Rio. This is a story of one woman, Nazaré da Silva, and some of the people in her life, who have embraced the figure of Pomba Gira, the spirit of an unruly harlot. These ceremonies offer release, but more so, the belief system offers order in a chaotic world.
