- Summary:
- Wolpert and Kapparis (both classics, U. of Florida) share their translations of 13 Attic speeches along with introductory notes and supplemental information. They have endeavored to include legal speeches that are absent from other collections so that their text can be used in conjunction with other course books but have also selected pieces they feel are fundamental to the study of Athenian law. Some of the speeches involve serious criminal matters such as homicide while others touch upon societal expectations, sexuality, fraud, and disorderly conduct. Arrangement is chronological by author. A glossary and bibliography are provided. Annotation ©2011 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
