Summary:
"With more than one hundred selected works, the Leopold Museum presents the first comprehensive cross-section of the more than 5,000 works belonging to the Vienna Insurance Group. Since the 1920s, the Vienna Insurance Group has been engaged with the fields of art and artistic promotion. This brought about active collecting, which led to a corporate collection with a focus on painting and graphic art from 1945 to the present. The collection is housed predominantly in the Ringturm, the headquarters of the insurance company, designed by Erich Boltenstern in 1955. The collection includes works from such artists as Irene Andessner, Christian Ludwig Attersee, Herbert Boeckl, Herbert Brandl, Lorenz Estermann, Franz Grabmayr, Robert Hammerstiel, Rudolf Hausner, Peter Kogler, Oskar Kokoschka, Ulrike Lienbacher, Maria Theresia Litschauer, Marko Lulic, Josef Mikl, Alois Mosbacher, Hermann Nitsch, Oswald Oberhuber, Florentina Pakosta, Markus Prachensky, Arnulf Rainer, Hubert Scheibl, Eva Schlegel, Hubert Schmalix, Hans Staudacher, Peter Weibel, Max Weiler and Otto Zitko."
