Summary:
Published by the Beazley Archive in association with Archaeopress (publishers of British Archaeological Reports) this doctoral dissertation (U. of Oxford, UK) is attractively presented on coated stock and includes 20 pages of b&w photos of the objects under consideration (most from the British Museum). Calder (classical archaeology, Wolfson College, Oxford) explains in her preface that much of the study is based on figure-painted pottery (although other items such as coins and seals, reliefs, and sculpture are considered), and most is Athenian. Her investigation is concerned with "...relationships between human and animal well-being..." and is intended to "...supplement the Greek social history of human-animal relationships, by including the more mundane social spheres, and species."
