- Summary:
- A slight alteration (with omissions) of the anonymous "Monsieur de Pourceaugnac, or, Squire Trelooby" published in 1704, soon after a translation by Vanbrugh, Congreve and Walsh had been acted, under title "Squire Trelooby". That published version was repudiated by Congreve as "none of ours" although it may be a transcription, by an unknown auditor, of the play as performed. Cf. Congreve, William.
