- "A curious and very interesting treatise on the location, shape, and size of Dante's Inferno, illustrated with fanciful woodcuts. This volume is included among the books related to America, on the strenght of a woodcut representation of the earth on p. 18, which exhibits to the West of Ethiopia (Africa), a land with the inscription: "Terra incognita", and to the South: "Monte del Purgatoria". This work, by one of the founders of the famous Academy of La Crusca, is interesting to philologists, on account of the introduction of accents to indicate the pronunciation of the Florentines "-- Harrisse 260.
