Summary:
This volume presents an analysis of statistical data on two important public health problems. The chapters on mental disorders describe variations in the patterns of use of such facilities and furnish statistical information important for evaluating the effectiveness and improving the delivery of mental health services. The section on suicide provides mortality rates from this cause derived from data on all deaths occurring in the U.S., and discusses demographic variables as well as various sociological and psychological theories about suicide.
