Summary:
In a project begun three years before Michael Apted's "7 Up" films began, the documentary set, of which this disc is part, follows 18 residents (born from 1953 to 1955) of the rural town of Golzow in the Oderbruch region of Brandenburg between Germany and Poland. The film series captures each person starting from the age of six, dealing with the personal situations of the characters and filming them in dramatic situations. The videos collectively convey a social panorama over time, and reveal some universal truths about growing older, as well as give a deep view into the history of the GDR and of the reunification process with West Germany. The filming of the series took place intermittently between 1961 and 2007.
