Summary:
"With complete creative freedom, eight internationally renowned directors bring their own unique interpretation of 'time' to the screen ... [This programme] takes in all human experience: birth, death, love, sex, the drama of the moment, history and ancient myth; and a great variety of locations from the jungles of South America to the streets of New York. Combined together in a feature film, their individual work gains new meanings and presents an intriguing and exciting experience for all film-lovers"--Container.
(Histoire d'eaux) As a means of coping with the present, an Indian migrant laborer in Italy has hopeful daydreams about the future and wistful reminiscences about the past.
(About time 2) The filmmaker, the writer, and the actors use three of the four split screens. In the fourth (and sometimes spilling over into the first three), the created narrative, or real life takes place.
(One moment) On a beautiful spring day, in a burgeoning orchard, a farmer takes a break and dreamily recollects the moments in his past that were wonderful. Then, the actor who plays the farmer recalls all the roles he played in the past that were memorable.
(Ten minutes after) A wife's patience is tried to the breaking point when her meticulously prepared anniversary celebration turns sour as her husband arrives home very drunk.
(Vers Nancy) A young woman tourist and a thoughtful older man discuss 'outsider' status, while travelling by train across France.
(Enlightenment) While a voiceover muses on how the 'now' is more real than the past or the future, couples on holiday find their lives irrevocably changed by the whim of an instant.
(Addicted to the stars) An astronaut who has travelled 80 light years across the universe, has aged only ten minutes. He must confront his future and his past at the same time.
(Dans le noir du temps) Brief flashes of courage, memory, thinking, love, and more, are illuminated by clips from documentary and feature films.
