The frontispiece woodcut of the segmented snake (Reilly 1015) first appeared in the Constitutional courant for Sept. 21, 1765 (Woodbridge, N.J.: Andrew Marvel) and was reprinted in New York, Boston and Philadelphia. This is apparently its first appearance in a pamphlet.
